SAA will be using an A340-600 on its Johannesburg-Perth route, replacing the A340-200 currently servicing this route.
This, says Robyn Chalmers, SAA head group corporate affairs, will provide an additional 67 seats per flight on the route. Chalmers adds that this is in line with SAA’s announcement that it will increase capacity on certain of its existing routes as well as adding new routes in the next few months.
The A340-600 is part of SAA’s existing fleet, and Chalmers confirms that SAA has received the aircraft it is leasing as part of its intermediate plan.
