MILLION AIR, the company that leases two planes to Sunair, has taken them back thereby effectively putting Sunair out of business. This according to Million Air’s executive director, Johan Botha. Botha told TNN that the airline owes R19m to various parties, including Lanseria Airport, travel agents, fuel suppliers and a catering company. He also said that one of the aircraft, a DC9 would be leased to newly launched airline, 1Time. TNN has so far been unsuccessful in getting hold of anyone at Sunair for comment. It was reported on Talk Radio 702 this morning that Sunair promised to reimburse passengers who had already bought tickets, but it remained unclear when this would happen. Meanwhile, Sunair’s check-in counter at Lanseria Airport is abandoned this morning. Any queries to the airline can be faxed through to (011) 540 2325/3. (Miguel de Sousa)
