Table View Beachfront upgrades gain momentum

The Table View beachfront upgrade is progressing steadily, with completion scheduled for November 2026. Civil-related works, which cause the most disruption, are expected to conclude in the first half of next year.

The project includes coastal defence, infrastructure improvements, recreational space and expanded parking. Stabilised dunes will serve as natural barriers against the sea while new walkways and reconfigured parking bays will improve access. Parking capacity is being expanded through the new Visagie Street facility, the Bokkombaai parking area, and additional bays along Beach Road. These new areas will also offer elevated views of the beach and Table Mountain.

During a site visit this week, Deputy Mayor and Mayoral Committee Member for Spatial Planning and Environment, Eddie Andrews, said: “It’s been nearly four months since the Table View beachfront upgrade construction works resumed and I am happy to see the momentum the project has gained.”

The aim of the project is to rehabilitate and revitalise the beachfront. “By enhancing the usability and facilities along this stretch, we believe it will attract more visitors and investors which will ultimately benefit the local businesses in the area and tourism overall,” he said.

Current works under way:

  • Walkway and parking pod modifications between Foam Road and Seal Road
  • Construction of the Visagie Street parking area
  • Widening of the walkway around Marine Circle
  • Expansion of the Bokkombaai parking area
  • Supplementary works, including timber fencing, access ways and stormwater outlets.
