The Elephant Whisperer dies

Conservationist, author and game lodge owner, Lawrence Anthony, died of a heart attack in his sleep at his hotel room on March 2.


Anthony, also known as The Elephant Whisperer as a result of one of his bestselling books, was the owner of Thula Thula Game Reserve in KZN. He was world-renowned for his intervention at Baghdad Zoo during the coalition’s invasion of Iraq in 2003, which was also the subject of his book, Babylon’s Ark.


He had just completed his latest book, The Last Rhino, which will be released in April.
