In a meeting held in Scottburgh, on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast earlier this week, the Umdoni Mayor Cllr. S. Khwela confirmed the Municipality’s commitment to both joBerg2C and sani2C 2016 (April – May 2016).
`We have been very fortunate to have these key international events staged here over the past years, however we have not until this point, been actively engaged with the event organisers. We are thrilled to announce that going forward for 2016, the Umdoni Municipality is fully committed to assisting the stakeholders in any way possible, through whatever resources we are able to leverage. We would like to view these events as Umdoni’s flagship events as we value the significant impact they have on our beautiful area. We will be engaging very closely with all stakeholders and encourage businesses and the community at large to do the same and to extend their full support in making 2016’s events the biggest and best yet.
If we are wanting to attract further economic investment in the area, this is our time to showcase what we have and how we can do it properly. We also have plans in place to upgrade and beautify the main street as well as the Marine road in time for these events as well as upgrading of the beachfront facilities. This includes tenants being in place by 1st December 2015’ says Umdoni Mayor Councillor S. Khwela.
Initiated by the Office of the Mayor, the meeting was attended by Umdoni Mayor Councillor S. Khwela, Umdoni Municipal Manager Mr Luthuli, Scottburgh Ratepayers representative Mr William Pienaar, sani2C and joburg2c Event Organiser’s representative Deanne Purtell and Ugu South Coast Tourism’s Marketing Specialist Nikki Tilley.
