Wild Dreams Hospitality, a specialist hospitality and conservation recruitment agency, has announced the launch of the Career Kickstarter Workshop designed to help South African youth bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace.
The programme focuses on practical job-seeking skills, including identifying career goals, writing CVs, searching for work, building a professional online presence and preparing for interviews. It also covers topics such as recognising job scams, understanding salary packages and following up professionally after interviews.
“In the 10 years since I founded Wild Dreams, one thing has become undeniably clear: the biggest barrier to employment isn’t lack of talent; it’s lack of knowledge. South Africa has one of the highest unemployment rates in the world yet students are leaving school without the basic skills to start their careers. Most young people never even make it to an interview because they don’t know how to write a CV or build a LinkedIn profile. Those who do get interviews are rarely prepared to succeed. That has to change and it has to start in the classroom,” said Hayley Cooper, Founder and CEO of Wild Dreams Hospitality.
