Wildlife management training in EC

THE Mantis Collection has announced that its new resort, Bushman Sands in Alicedale in the Eastern Cape, will include a campus that offers wildlife management training to South African and foreign students, as well as members of the Alicedale community. Bushman Sands, in conjunction with Educational Institute for Service Studies (EISS) will offer lectures to Alicedale community residents who show an aptitude for hospitality management. Community members will also be invited to join the EISS campus at Bushman Sands, which is the base from which students study towards the game lodge management section of their course in the third year of their hospitality management degree. “The wildlife, conservation and game lodge management semester, which is 16 weeks long, is the only course in the world that involves practical training on a game reserve, with students living on site for the duration of their training, within a four-year hospitality degree,” said Renita Affat, marketing director of EISS. EISS’s parent university in Holland, CHN is also showing great interest in the course, according to Affat. “There is already a waiting list in Holland for students wishing to come here to complete the wildlife, conservation and game lodge management course,” she said. “A limited number of South African students who complete this course and graduate from EISS with a hospitality management degree will be guaranteed jobs at any of the Mantis Collection hotels,” she added.
