Zimbabwe Tourism Council rebrands

The TBCZ was re-launched on the weekend, celebrating 30 years in the industry.

The Zimbabwe Council for Tourism is celebrating its 30th anniversary and has undergone a rebrand.

Tich Hwingwiri, President of the Tourism Business Council for Zimbabwe (TBCZ), told media on Thursday, August 30: “We decided earlier this year to change the name from Zimbabwe Council for Tourism to the Tourism Business Council for Zimbabwe. This will help us communicate that we are the voice of the businesses in travel and tourism, and this links us to bodies such as the Tourism Business Council of South Africa, which plays a similar role in that country.”

Speaking at the 30th anniversary celebrations, Minister for Tourism and Hospitality, Priscah Mupfumira, told those gathered: “The TBCZ has been an active and valuable leader, service provider and partner throughout these past three decades, working with a range of individuals and organisations in Zimbabwe, in the region and, indeed, all over the world to further the interests of Zimbabwe’s travel and tourism operators and to ensure that this sector enjoyed strength and success.”

Mupfumira encouraged tourism businesses to become members: “The TBCZ will play a valuable role in ensuring that public and private sectors work together and in communicating the views, ideas, suggestions and, indeed, demands of the operators. It is my singular hope that each and every operator, irrespective of which field of endeavour that operator is involved in, will either maintain membership of TBCZ and its sectoral associations, or – in the case of those who are not yet members – will join up and be part of the process of change and development as a partner and not as a passive passenger.”
