Angola’s leisure offering ‘overlooked’

Zandre Campos, CEO of Angola Capital Investments, believes that tourism presents great opportunity for tourists to experience Angola.

Zandre Campos, CEO of Angola Capital Investments, says Angola has more to offer tourists than what is commonly marketed.

“I think there is a lack of promotion and I think in the future Angola will be one of the key destinations in Africa,” says Campos, adding that the country has 1 550 kilometres of coastline, much of which has not been explored.

“We have lots of aquatic attractions, such as fishing, surfing, and kite-surfing in Mussulo islands.”

Campos has invested in Bluoshen, which has seven small hotels, five in Luanda and two in Benguela.

Most of Angola’s leisure tourists come from Portuguese-speaking countries such as Brazil and Portugal, he says, adding that the biggest challenge Angola faces in tourism is communication.

He says the changes made when applying for a tourist visa from any Angolan embassy or consulate has helped to improve tourism to the country. Travellers can apply for a visa online or visit any Angolan embassy or consulate to apply for a visa.
