The first group of Chinese leisure tourists to visit South Africa since before COVID were treated to a warm South African welcome at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport on Wednesday, March 29. The group were delighted to experience a traditional Zulu dance in the international arrivals hall, setting the perfect tone for their trip to Cape Town and Sun City.
The Air China flight signals the restart of outbound group leisure travel from the world’s most populous nation to South Africa. South African Tourism predicts that Chinese arrivals will reach monthly pre-COVID levels by September.
