Coastal Aviation resets rates following security levy and exchange rate fluctuation

Coastal Aviation resets rates due to the fluctuating exchange rate and new security levy imposed by the Tanzanian Airport Authority.

The Tanzanian Airport Authority (TAA) has introduced a new security levy for domestic and international passengers departing from airports in Tanzania and, as a result of this and the change in the exchange rate compared with the US dollar, Coastal Aviation has reset its rate.

The new fee set by the TAA is US$2 for passengers on domestic flights and US$5 for international flights.

Coastal Aviation recognises that, as the time to react to the latest development is short, the carrier will only apply the new security fee to flights booked from October 1 onwards for travel after November 1.

With the ongoing fluctuation in the Tanzanian shilling (TZS)/US dollar (USD) exchange rate, Coastal Aviation has had to reset the rate to TZS2275 to the US dollar, from the previous TZS2250.

This new rate applies with effect from October 1.

Coastal Aviation’s last change to the exchange rate was applied on February 1.
