Great Plains announces new Botswana camp

Duba Expedition Camp is located within the Duba Plain concession in the Okavango Delta, Botswana.

Great Plains Conservation is to build a new camp in the Duba Plain concession in Botswana. Duba Expedition Camp will have upgraded facilities compared with those of the existing Duba Plains Camp.

Duba Expedition Camp will have six tents, each with en-suite facilities and larger guest sleeping areas than those at Duba Plains Camp. The new site, currently undergoing an Environmental Impact Assessment, is on the banks of a floodplain and river a kilometre away from the present camp, with access to water-based activities and game-viewing drives.

This fixed-base camp has tents powered by solar, inverter and battery systems, which will supply lights, fans and charging facilities. The main area is made up of large dining and lounge tents, and the kitchen is being designed and laid out by Executive Chef, Pierre van Zyl.

In May, all existing Duba Plains bookings will automatically shift across to the new camp so that work can be done to the old camp. Completion of the Duba Plains Camp is expected in 2016.
