Spurwing Tourism, an inbound tour and wheels operator, has been repositioned under the ownership of Dimitri Kokinos.
Kokinos bought the business in February 2015 and has invested time and money into the Spurwing brand. “For the first 10 months I tried to find out from existing clients how things can be improved and from previous clients why they had left.”
Another factor that has helped Kokinos to reposition the brand was building relationships with his clients who, he says, include agents in South Africa as well as travellers from other countries. “I have very many more relationships to build and I have those that I still want to make stronger.”
Kokinos says his management style of being hands-on and present will help to grow the brand even further. “If there’s a problem, the first thing I do is pick up the phone and say ‘How can we sort this out?’”
He also bought new vehicles and has retrained all his staff.
Spurwing has launched Best of Both, a safari tour that “gives the client the experience of the more mainstream Kruger and the exclusivity and intimacy of the Sabi,” says Kokinos.
A scheduled Kruger tour with twice-monthly departures on the 7th and 21st of the month, has been added to the Kruger Explorer tour. “This will enable the clients with flexible travel dates to experience the same tour with us at a discounted rate.
“I’ve noticed that there is a big demand for East Africa and Botswana,” Kokinos commented on expansion trends.
Spurwing Tourism offers transport services, with a daily shuttle from Johannesburg to Hazyview, safaris, as well as day tours in South Africa.
