Kicheche Camps has launched a new Kenya itinerary that will combine two nights in the Kicheche Laikipia, in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, and two nights of camping with a wilderness walk in the Lolldaiga Hills Conservancy.
The private safari will be led by one of Kicheche’s Silver KPSGA guides, providing opportunities for extended game drives, photographs, night drives and walking safaris.
The first day of the itinerary includes flights from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to Nanyuki or Kamok airstrip in Ol Pejeta. Guests will then be transferred to the camp in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, with an estimated travel time of 45 minutes. Lunch will be served in the camp, followed by a game drive. Sundowners are followed by a spotlight drive back to camp, where guests can shower and have drinks around the campfire before dinner.
Day two includes a morning game drive, returning to the camp at about 11h00. Lunch is served back at the camp. In the afternoon, guests can choose to observe the wildlife at the watering hole in front of the camp, go canoeing on a nearby lake, go mountain biking or take in an afternoon game drive through a different part of the conservancy. Dinner is early, followed by a night drive or a night at camp.
Day three also starts with a morning game drive. Lunch will be served at camp, followed by transfers to the neighbouring Lolldaiga Hills Ranch. There, guests will walk with an armed ranger from the conservancy for about three hours to Kicheche’s pre-set fly camp, where they will spend the night.
The camp includes dome tents for two guests, with beds, bedrolls, chairs and a washstand. The camp is staffed by a cook and a camp hand. There are also separate bathroom facilities available (long-drop toilet and bush shower). A lightweight mess shelter will be used in the event of rain.
Day four includes a walking safari, starting at 07h00, for about two to three hours. Breakfast will be served back at the fly camp. There will be a game drive after breakfast, with a picnic lunch served at a site where cave paintings are located. This will be followed by another short game drive and then a return to camp for sundowners, showers and an early dinner. That evening, there will be a night game drive.
Day five includes breakfast at the camp, followed by transfers to Nanyuki for the onward flight.
