Minister of State Security, David Mahlobo, has ties to an organised crime figure who traffics rhino horns, according to a new documentary by Al Jazeera’s investigative unit.
While the Minister has denied the claim, the Guan Jiang Guang said to Al Jazeera: "He came to my massage parlour every week or at least twice a month." He also said: "I know him very well."
Other claims in the documentary include that Chinese President Xi Jinping bought illegal souvenirs when he visited South Africa last December, including rhino horn an ivory.
