The fare for the MyCiTi Bus Airport Service will increase on July 1 as part of the recently approved overall city budget for the 2011/2012 financial year.
The fare for the MyCiTi Bus on the airport route will increase from R50 to R53. Tickets are on sale at the Civic Centre or Airport MyCiTi Stations. A fare adjustment will also be made to the fares for monthly tickets, for children under 12 years old, and for bulk purchase, from July 1.
The fares for the trunk route of R10 between Table View and Civic Centre stations and the R5 feeder route fare for the Table View and Gardens-Civic-Waterfront feeder routes have not been increased.
The new airport-Civic Centre tariff will apply for the 2011/2012 financial year, but may be adjusted during 2012, when other fares in the MyCiTi system are adjusted to distanced-based fares as opposed to the current flat fare system.
MyCiTi fares are also affected by increases in the wholesale price of diesel. According to the Council Tariff Schedule, MyCiTI fares may be increased when the wholesale diesel price increases beyond R10 per litre.
