The Tapestry Collection by Hilton brand is set to debut in South Africa in 2027.
Situated on South Africa’s east coast, the hotel will be located in Sibaya, which is between Umhlanga and Ballito in KwaZulu-Natal. The area is known for its coastal forest reserve, beaches and proximity to King Shaka International Airport (15 minutes) and the Durban International Convention Centre (20 minutes).
“The Sterling Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton will offer easy access to renowned attractions such as the Dolphin Coast, Crocodile Creek, Sugar Rush Park, Natal Lion Park and Tala Game Reserve,” Hilton confirmed.
Announced by Hilton, in partnership with Crown Pound, the signing of The Sterling Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton is part of Hilton’s strategy to nearly triple its presence across Africa to more than 160 hotels.

The 111-room hotel will feature a fitness centre, all-day dining restaurant, lobby café and bar, terrace and outdoor pool. In line with the Tapestry Collection’s philosophy, the property will reflect the character and spirit of its surroundings, providing guests with what Hilton describes as “authentic, locally inspired experiences”.
Carlos Khneisser, Hilton Chief Development Officer: Middle East and Africa, said: “We are delighted to partner with Crown Pound to bring the first Tapestry Collection hotel to South Africa. Sibaya’s vibrant coastal setting and growing appeal as a leisure and business destination make it the perfect location for this distinctive lifestyle brand. Africa’s hospitality sector is rapidly expanding and we remain committed to building on our 65-year legacy on the continent by introducing more of our award-winning brands to visitors and residents alike.”
