The Hermanus Cliff Path is now fully connected following the completion of an 800 metre missing link at Poole’s Bay, creating a continuous 12km coastal walkway from New Harbour to Grotto Beach.
The long-awaited upgrade, completed this month, marks the end of years of detours along the R43 caused by property and environmental disputes. The project was possible through collaboration between the Cliff Path Action Group, Overstrand Municipality and the Western Cape government.
The new section, 1.2 metres wide, features raised boardwalks and natural stone to minimise environmental impact and protect the fragile coastal ecosystem. Visitors can enjoy uninterrupted ocean views, indigenous fynbos and frequent southern right whale sightings from June to November.
