People on the move: New appointment at Tourvest

In her new role, Lauren Kemp will be responsible for customer relationship management, development and research of new product.

Lauren Kemp starts as Business Development Manager for TEAM Global Sports, a division of Tourvest, on March 1.

Kemp initially started in the TEAM division as project manager for the 2010 World Cup before moving to Marketing and Communications Manager of Tourvest Destination Management.

Her new role will include a specific focus on customer relationship management, development and research of new product. “I will also manage all the digital marketing for TEAM,” said Kemp.

Rob and Ingrid Baas are the new General Managers for Bisate Lodge, due to open in Rwanda on June 1.

“With their combined passion and respect for Africa, its people and wildlife, and their extensive knowledge of the hospitality industry, we are looking forward to having them at the helm of this exciting new lodge and pioneering conservation project,” said Chris Roche, Wilderness Safaris CMO.

The Baases are currently based in Rwanda, recruiting a team for the lodge – most of whom will come from the neighbouring communities – as well as sourcing local suppliers and partners.

Lee-Ann Benney, a graduate of Protea Hotels by Marriott’s in-service training initiative, is the new General Manager of the Protea Hotel by Marriott Roodepoort.

Benney has been with Protea Hotels for over 15 years and has a qualification from the University of Johannesburg.

“It is exciting to be part of this leading hospitality organisation at a time when tourism is on the rise both globally and in South Africa,” said Benney.

Reinher Behrens has been appointed CEO of The Franschhoek Wine Valley Tourism Authority NPC (FWV). He was previously the Acting Director of University Relations at the University of Pretoria.
