Belmond has closed Savute Elephant Lodge from this month for a total rebuild.

“Belmond announces its continued investment in its safari lodges in Botswana with a US$6,5 million total rebuild of Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge,” Sean Clark, Director of Sales, Marketing & Touring, told Tourism Update.

The lodge will reopen in June following a complete redesign of the public areas and guest rooms. The rebuild will be guided by the best sustainable building practices.

Clark said the new lodge would boast a spa, interconnecting family rooms, a wildlife-viewing hide and a fire-pit with a view over the famous Savute Channel.

Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge is in the Chobe National Park in the remote Savute region of northern Botswana.
