Rogue accountant attempts to steal millions from luxury lodge

An employee of the exclusive Londolozi Private Game Reserve has been apprehended after allegedly attempting to steal millions from the lodge this weekend.

An employee of Londolozi Private Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger National Park, attempted to steal millions from the lodge this weekend.

According to a report in the local paper, Low Velder, Wade Morgan Williams (30) is alleged to have kidnapped his employer and demanded that he disclose the PIN. Williams reportedly tied up and threatened his employer at gunpoint before attempting to transfer nearly R5 million into his own bank account and stealing over R200 000 in cash. He then fled in his employer’s vehicle.

According to Williams’ LinkedIn profile, he has been an accountant & IT manager at Londolozi for more than six years.

Londolozi’s Boyd Varty told Tourism Update the funds were frozen and all money had been returned to the lodge. Varty confirmed that Williams was in custody after bail had been denied at this stage. “The incident has been swiftly concluded, which has been good.”
