Safari lodge in KZN private game reserve gets a facelift

Bayala Safari Lodge in KwaZulu Natal recently underwent renovations.

The lodge is in a non-malarial area in the southern part of the Munyawana Game Reserve, which comprises Phinda and Zuka Private Game Reserves, and is three hours north of Durban’s King Shaka International Airport.

The conservation area covers 30 000 hectares of wilderness and borders the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, which is a World Heritage Site and home to the Big Five.

Bayala is a family-orientated lodge, with 24 thatched-roof rooms. All rooms are either twin or double en-suite, equipped with a fan/air-conditioner and WiFi. Facilities include a lounge, bar and informal dining inside or outside, as well as a pool.  

Bayala Safari Camp, situated close to the lodge, is still undergoing renovations.
