Standard Bank is expanding capacity for tourists in South Africa to pay in their own currencies with the rollout of dynamic currency conversion (DCC) at 16 000 merchants in the hospitality, tourism and retail industries.
The DCC service, enabled through a partnership with global fintech company Fexco, allows international card holders to view prices and pay in their own currency instantly at the point of sale. The rollout – including restaurants, hotels and retail outlets – will be completed by the end of this year.
“By rolling out DCC, Standard Bank is helping to remove barriers for international visitors, making it easier for them to pay with confidence and clarity. This initiative supports our broader commitment to position South Africa as a tourist-friendly destination where technology and hospitality work hand in hand to deliver a world-class experience,” said Norman Nyawo, Standard Bank’s Head of Merchant Solutions.
