Almost half of respondents (48%) said it typically takes more than six months for a newly qualified tourism graduate to become fully productive in a business, highlighting many employers’ significant investment in developing new talent.
Another 17% said graduates become fully productive within three to six months while just 3% reported that it takes one to three months. No respondents said graduates are fully productive in less than a month.
Nearly a third (32%) said they rarely hire fresh graduates, suggesting that many businesses prefer experienced recruits or have limited capacity to provide the level of mentoring required.
