On July 2, LATAM Airlines celebrated its inaugural flight from São Paulo to Cape Town.
The occasion was marked by a cake-cutting ceremony celebrating improved connectivity between South Africa and Brazil.
The flight will operate on the following schedule:
- Departing from Cape Town at 15h50 on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays and arriving in São Paulo at 20h00
- Departing from São Paulo at 22h45 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and arriving in Cape Town at 10h55 the following day
At the ceremony, Minister of Tourism Patricia de Lille said the new route is part of government’s broader strategy to expand international air connectivity.
She described Brazil as a growing source market, citing 29 920 visitors between January and May 2026, which is a 32% increase on the same period last year.
As the two countries deepen tourism cooperation, SA Tourism is working closely with LATAM Airlines in joint marketing initiatives and travel trade packaging, added De Lille.
