Tanzanian aviation provider, Tanganyika Flying Co. (TFC) has announced the launch of services into Serengeti Lamai Airstrip, with immediate effect, increasing its flights to the Serengeti National Park to five.
Julian Edmunds, TFC Director, said the addition of the airstrip will facilitate the movement of passengers staying at Singita’s Mara River Tented Camp and Asilia’s Olakira Lamai Camp, plus any other seasonal camps that operate north of the Mara River.
The services will operate according to the same rates, times and conditions as those at Kogatende Airstrip, on a morning and afternoon basis, all year round. It will offer connections from and to Arusha, Kilimanjaro International Airport, Nairobi Wilson, Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam, Lake Manyara, Ndudu, Singita Grumeti Reserves and the other Serengeti National Park airstrips.
“The opening of this airstrip should enhance the overall experience of tourists visiting the Northern Serengeti, particularly during the migration season, from August to October, where the pressure on the Kogatende runway can be extreme,” said Edmunds.
