Zanzibar to restore historic sites

Zanzibar has plans to restore and refresh some of its historic landmarks through a public-private partnership between its Ministry of Tourism and Heritage and Ministry of Labour and Investment and Infinity Developments.

The initiative will see the restoration of key landmarks within and beyond Stone Town including the Old Fort, the High Court Museum, the Hamamni Persian Baths and the bath complexes at Forodhani, Kidichi and Kizimbani.

According to The Bizlens, Infinity Developments, through its Infinity Cultural Program, committed US$12 million to the initial project phase. This investment will assist with comprehensive restoration works, infrastructure modernisation, conservation initiatives and improvements designed to improve visitor experience while maintaining the historical integrity of the sites.
