Poll results - Freeze prices to attract visitors

Last week we asked our readers if tourism suppliers should freeze their prices (carrying 2020 prices over to 2021) to make travel to southern Africa more appealing.

  • Yes, the pool will be smaller and suppliers should do what they can to attract numbers. 65%
  • No. Post-COVID travel will come with additional overhead costs to ensure guests’ safety.  21%
  • Maybe, depending on whether the rand stays low against other currencies.                       14%

This week, we’re asking if readers think South Africa runs the risk of being left behind and losing its place as a hub for tourism on the continent by keeping its borders closed to international and regional markets while Tanzania and other SADC countries are easing restrictions.
