Air Zimbabwe grounded indefinitely

Air Zimbabwe has confirmed that it is grounded indefinitely after the failure of its revival effort last week.

"I can confirm all flights are suspended. We are grounded indefinitely," Air Zimbabwe chief executive, Innocent Mavhunga, told AFP.

The airline last week announced that it had reinstated its domestic flights and that passengers were to check in as normal, however disgruntled pilots did not return work.

"Pilots did not come to commence operations. We are waiting for the government, which is our major shareholder, to intervene. Our issue is in the domain of Cabinet. We are just waiting for their intervention," Mavhunga said.

The airline’s pilots have staged several walkouts since last year over unpaid salaries.
