New Zealand rugby legend Dan Carter recently visited The Leonardo in Sandton where Legacy Group Founder and CEO Bart Dorrestein took the former All Black on a tour of the group’s Sandton properties.
The tour included the Candle of Hope outside DAVINCI Hotel & Suites, a public artwork symbolising optimism and belief in South Africa’s future, a philosophy that Legacy says has influenced its approach to development.
Carter also learnt more about the story behind The Leonardo, the 57-storey Sandton landmark developed during a challenging economic period. Its construction created around 2 000 direct employment opportunities with an estimated 18 000 to 20 000 indirect jobs generated through related industries.
Carter was in South Africa for Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry, the quadrennial tour between the Springboks and All Blacks, highlighting the links between major sporting events, tourism and hospitality.
