Cape Town Airport to undergo name change

Name change set for Cape Town International Airport.

Spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Ishmael Mnisi, has confirmed that Cape Town International Airport will be renamed in the near future. It is set to be named after a South African anti-apartheid icon.

While Economic Freedom Fighters leader, Julius Malema, called for the airport to be renamed after Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, during his speech at her funeral at Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Saturday (April 14), Mnisi says that the airport has not officially been renamed as yet, but that Madikizela-Mandela’s name is among those being considered.
