Chikunto Safaris opens in South Luangwa

Inspirational Safaris has taken over the marketing of the Zambian property.

Inspirational Places has added a new property to its portfolio. Chikunto Safaris in Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park, which opened earlier this year, will be marketed by Inspirational Places.

The property opened in April as a partnership between Zambian national, Josephat Musini (now Director of Activities at Chikunto Safaris), and German-born Jens Kant, and his wife, Swiss-born Regula Burkhalter.

Tragically, just weeks after the official opening, Burkhalter was struck down by a fatal illness. The staff at the lodge aim to continue her legacy and Musini says Burkhalter’s passion for Zambia’s wildlife will continue.

The lodge is a 45-minute drive from the Mfuwe Gate and is set along the banks of the Luangwa River. It sleeps 12 guests in five luxury tents, including a two-bedroomed family tent. Activities include boat trips, game drives and nature walks. Alison Hunt, owner of Inspirational Places says: “Chikunto Safaris is for the community and this really resonates with me.”
