CT, Zim and Namibia announce partnership

Cape Town, Zimbabwe and Namibia have formed a strategic tourism partnership aimed at positioning Southern Africa as a more competitive multi-country destination for international travellers.

The agreement, first explored at WTM Africa 2025, focuses on regional coordination, joint marketing and facilitating easier cross-border travel for long-haul visitors.

The partnership aims to encourage longer stays, increase visitor spend and spread tourism benefits more evenly across the region through multi-country itineraries and coordinated campaigns.

It will also focus on coordinated marketing, shared capabilities and event-driven tourism opportunities aimed at supporting long-term regional tourism growth.

Campaigns will include joint digital marketing initiatives supported by shared insights into storytelling, audience targeting and booking trends. Activity is expected to launch ahead of the peak international travel planning period in November.

Cape Town Tourism CEO Enver Duminy said travellers are increasingly seeking connected, multi-destination experiences.

“By collaborating with Zimbabwe and Namibia, we are creating richer, multi-faceted journeys and positioning Southern Africa as a connected, high-end destination capable of competing more effectively on the international stage.”

The agreement also places emphasis on major sporting, cultural and business events as drivers of regional travel, encouraging visitors to extend trips across multiple destinations.

Namibia Tourism Board CEO Sebulon Chicalu said the partnership will help reduce barriers to regional travel and attract higher-value visitors.

Zimbabwe Tourism Authority Chief Executive George Manyaya said the collaboration represents a shift in how Southern Africa is marketed internationally. “By aligning our efforts, we’re making it easier for travellers to experience more of the region in a single journey and unlock greater economic impact across our destinations.”
