East3Route is a tripartite economic and tourism development initiative featuring KwaZulu Natal, Mozambique and Swaziland.
The fifth edition of the tourism excursion will be led by KwaZulu Natal MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Michael Mabuyakhulu and his counterparts from Mozambique, from October 16-22.
In an effort to profile cross-border tourism and investment opportunities, the expedition will start in Chidenguele, Mozambique, and proceed to Swaziland, ending in KwaZulu Natal, with two nights being spent at each destination.
Approximately 220 guests, stakeholders and representatives from the trade and media will review tourism attractions, products and investment opportunities within the three countries.
The East3Route initiative falls within the Lubombo Spatial Development initiative. It was conceived by the governments of South Africa, Mozambique and Swaziland in 1998, mainly to promote ecotourism development. In February 2013, the Republic of Seychelles was accepted as the fourth partner in the alliance, however, due to geographic constraints, Seychelles will not feature in this expedition.
