Emirates and Wesgro sign MoU

Emirates and Wesgro have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to stimulate inbound tourism in the Western Cape.

Under the agreement, signed during WTM Africa, the two parties agreed to work together to promote Cape Town and the Western Cape across key markets in the Gulf region, the Far East and India – positioning the destination as a leading hub for business and leisure travel.

“As the tourism, trade and investment promotion agency for the region, Wesgro focuses on stimulating demand, strengthening trade relationships and unlocking opportunities across priority markets. Partnerships with organisations such as Emirates offer system-scale opportunities to engage with global stakeholders and accelerate this momentum,” says Wrenelle Stander, CEO of Wesgro, emphasising a coordinated approach to boosting inbound tourism.

“This partnership supports and complements our plan to introduce a third daily frequency to Cape Town served by our newest aircraft type, the Airbus A350,” says Afzal Parambil, Regional Manager for Southern Africa at Emirates, highlighting efforts to strengthen air capacity into the region.
