Ethiopia’s ruling party announced on Tuesday (June 5) that it will sell off parts of its major state-owned industries, including Ethiopian Airlines.
The Ethiopian government will continue to hold the largest stake in these companies, and “the rest of the shares will be offered to domestic and foreign investors”, said the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) in a statement.
The ruling party commented on Facebook on the policy, stating: “It is to enable Ethiopia-born citizens living abroad, who’ve long wished to work on the development of their country, and also to enable foreigners who have the knowledge and foreign currency, to play a positive role in our growth.”
