Ethiopian ups flights to Accra

Ethiopian Airlines will up its frequency from Addis Ababa to Accra, Ghana, from daily to 11 weekly, from the end of March.

This is primarily part of its third-wave growth plan of increasing connectivity, choice, and competitiveness.

Ghana is fast becoming an ideal destination for eco-tourists and those wishing to witness first hand community-based eco-tourism projects.

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted that African countries no longer had a choice but to work together to grow and recover their tourism industries, putting the growth of intra-Africa travel firmly in the spotlight as a key priority on the continent.

“One of the great side-effects of COVID-19 was that it saw an increase of regional and domestic tourism, showing us that, if we grow intra-Africa tourism, we build resilience,”said Dr Geoffrey Manyara, Economic Affairs Officer for Tourism for the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Rwanda.

Ghana has been identified as a key tourism source market for both southern and East Africa for business and leisure travel.

All 11 weekly services are non-stop in both directions.
