Linda Josias’ inspiring journey fuels Webtickets’ expansion into turnkey staffing solutions
What began as a weekend cashier job at Kirstenbosch Gardens in the 1990s has now grown into a turnkey operational solution for South Africa’s leading cultural and tourism venues.
Today, long-time industry professional Linda Josias stands as the majority shareholder of Webtickets Ticket Office, a new staffing and procurement division launched by South Africa’s leading ticketing technology provider Webtickets.
Solving a growing industry need
Originally founded to sell tickets online, Webtickets quickly realised that venues needed more than software. Increasingly, theatres, gardens and attractions required a partner who could manage their entire ticketing operation – from the software to on-site staff and access control.
From online tickets to full turnkey solutions
Webtickets, originally focused on online ticket sales, saw growing demand from venues that needed more than just software. When clients like UCT’s Baxter Theatre and SANBI asked for a partner to manage their physical ticket offices, Webtickets responded by launching Webtickets Ticket Office.
“Staffing and training are integral to ticketing operations,” explains Jonathan Wayne, Webtickets Founder. “We had been working with Linda since 2008 when SANBI required management of five ticket offices across the Western Cape. It made sense to combine forces. Linda’s professionalism, experience and leadership make her the perfect partner.”
Today, the division manages box offices at Kirstenbosch, Harold Porter and Karoo Desert Gardens, providing clients with:
- Operational efficiencies through professional management
- Best-in-class training for frontline staff
- Improved ticket yield and revenue control
Creating jobs and uplifting communities
More than just a business unit, Webtickets Ticket Office is designed as an upliftment initiative. Under Linda’s leadership, staff are recruited from local communities and trained in customer service, event operations and computer literacy, preparing staff not only for ticketing roles but also for future careers.
Looking ahead
Together with Webtickets, she is committed to expanding this model into museums, attractions and live event venues across South Africa – positioning Webtickets not just as a ticketing software provider but as a comprehensive partner for tourism and heritage venues.
For Linda, being a majority shareholder is an honour and a responsibility.
“I see myself as not only leading a company but creating opportunities for others,” she says.
