Gondwana Collection Namibia has launched a free city shuttle for tourists in Windhoek (during October) and Swakopmund (during December).
The campaign, Hop’n’Go2, is a short-term initiative aimed at promoting tourism safety and described as “a simple gesture of hospitality”. The service is intended for short in-city trips and not bookable as it operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
Visitors can spot the service by its bright yellow cars with Hop’n’Go2 branding. The vehicles, which are GPS-tracked for peace of mind, will be operated by trained drivers employed by Gondwana Collection Namibia on a freelance basis – providing suggestions, maps and stories about Namibia while travelling to the desired destination.
On plans to expand the service to other tourism hotspots, Jandia van Wyk, Gondwana Collection Namibia Marketing Architect, said: “At this stage, we do not have a defined end date for the campaign nor are there confirmed plans to run it again or expand it to other locations.”
