Likoma Island on Lake Malawi will play host to its first tourism expo this year, the Likoma Island Tourism Expo 2018 from October 10-12.
It will coincide with Malawi’s only island festival, the Likoma Summer Cultural Festival, which runs from October 10-16.
The concept for the expo has been drawn from Takulandirani Malawi International Tourism Expo and aims to market Likoma Island and drive tourism traffic, as well as tourism-related investments.
The Likoma Island Tourism Expo is expected to host travel agents, banking and finance institutions, accommodation providers, transportation companies, telecommunication companies, construction companies, and government departments among others. Stakeholders will display their products and services at allocated pavilions, sharing notes and information through networking events.
Several learning sessions on Likoma Island’s investment climate will be presented by experts in fields such as security, transportation, lodging, culture, healthcare, service provisions and more.
The expo is expecting to attract more than 50 companies, organisations and government departments.
