Monday Smile: Puppy love

A service dog named Ellie gave birth to eight puppies at the Tampa International Airport recently, shortly before her owners were meant to board a flight to Philadelphia, the Independent reported.

Apparently the owners, a woman and her daughter, knew that Ellie, a two-year old yellow Lab, was pregnant but had no idea she would go into labour any time soon. Fortunately, Tampa Fire Rescue’s medical team was on hand to assist Ellie, who gave birth to seven boys and one girl.

Meanwhile, proud father Nugget, himself a service dog, waited patiently in the terminal for his new brood to be born.

Proud Dad, Nugget.

Pictures and videos of the birth were posted on Tampa Fire Rescue’s twitter page @TampaFireRescue.
