Mpumalanga is looking to strengthen tourism partnerships with the Indian market and advance regional collaboration through the TriLand agreement with Eswatini and Mozambique.
During the recent Africa’s Travel Indaba, the Mpumalanga Department of Economic Development and Tourism, MEC for Economic Development and Tourism Jesta Sidell, alongside Interim Board Chairperson of the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency Fish Mahlalela, met with international buyers, neighbouring provinces and regional stakeholders.
The department said meetings with the Indian consulate focused on building tourism ties between the parties.
The department confirmed that the Indian consulate committed to use its social media platforms and various marketing platforms to promote Mpumalanga as a preferred tourism destination of choice.
The province also used the event to reinforce the existing TriLand agreement between Mpumalanga, Eswatini and Mozambique.
The parties discussed establishing a joint website to promote the TriLand tourism package.
The engagements are part of broader efforts to improve on regional tourism collaboration and increase tourist arrivals and spend across participating destinations.
The department also confirmed that Mpumalanga holds a Tourism Investment Dialogue with potential investors during the show as a precursor to a proposed Mpumalanga Tourism Investment Conference later this year.
