Seronera airstrip in the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania, has introduced enhanced security facilities.
According to Coastal Aviation, the airstrip is introducing new equipment and processes in line with the Tanzanian Civil Aviation Security Regulations, 2015. The regulations mirror international standards that limit liquids, aerosols and gels to 100ml. Passengers will also be screened before entering the departure lounge area. Coastal Aviation reports that while the correct X-ray machinery is still being installed, luggage will be opened for inspection.
Due to this new system, passengers are advised to arrive at the airstrip at least an hour before departure to allow for sufficient processing time.
