Wesgro appoints Head of Cape Town and Western Cape
Wesgro has appointed Adriaan Fourie as Head of the Cape Town and Western Cape Convention Bureau – its strategic unit charged with developing and promoting the province as a premier business events destination.
He has worked at Wesgro for over 13 years as a Business Development Manager and comes into the role with more than 25 years of experience as a senior public-sector destination and business events executive.
New MD for aha Hotels & Lodges
Tourvest Accommodation & Activities has announced the appointment of Malibuye Langa as MD of its tourism property management division, aha Hotels & Lodges.
He is a chartered accountant with a master’s degree in Development Finance and comes into the role with 18 years of senior leadership experience in financial management, corporate finance, risk governance and public-private partnerships.
He was CEO of an integrated property management concession for six years after serving as Chief Financial Officer and Group Internal Auditor for Tourvest from 2010 to 2013.
Cheetah Plains announces strategic leadership appointments
Cheetah Plains has appointed NJ van der Merwe as MD and Mettie van der Merwe as General Manager.
The couple have been a part of the company for seven years, overseeing the lodge’s day-to-day operations and positioning Cheetah Plains as a luxury brand. Collectively, they bring over three decades of experience in luxury travel and hospitality.
In his new role, NJ will guide the brand through the next phase of growth while Mettie will shape the daily experiences and operational success of the lodge.

ENVI Lodges appoints new Director of Operations
Joining ENVI Lodges as Director of Operations, Shanawaz Basheer is a hotelier with over two decades of experience in luxury hospitality, lodge operations and pre-opening projects across Africa and Asia.
He most recently served as Chief Operating Officer of Wild Places Africa – The Uganda Safari Company and has worked as General Manager for properties across India, Tanzania, Ghana and Kenya.
New Hotel Manager for The Palace at Sun City
Rudi Williams has been appointed Hotel Manager for The Palace at Sun City, bringing over 15 years of international hospitality experience to the resort.
He has held senior leadership positions in the hospitality industry in Bahrain, Qatar, Saudia Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and South Africa. His experience includes leading large teams in operations, revenue growth, pre-opening projects and multi-unit financial performance.
He has qualifications in project management and business management from the University of Stellenbosch Business School. He also has a Highfield level 3 Award in hazard analysis and critical control points for caterers.
