African Bush Camps appoints new MD

African Bush Camps has appointed Maija de Rijk-Uys as Group Managing Director as the company marks 20 years in operation.

De Rijk-Uys joins from Go2Africa, where she spent 10 years, and brings experience in travel, growth and strategic leadership. She previously served on the Board of SA Tourism and is currently a Board member of Cape Town Tourism.

In her new role, she will lead the day-to-day business across the group’s multi-country operations and oversee delivery of strategy.

The appointment aims to strengthen leadership capacity as the business expands beyond its founder-led structure.

She will report to Founder and CEO Beks Ndlovu who will focus on long-term vision, strategy, growth and culture with relationship building support from the African Bush Camps Advisory Board. 

Morukuru Family announces internal promotions

Morukuru Family has announced a series of leadership promotions across its portfolio.

Front: Rinse Wassenaar, Melinda Hlomai, Ed Zeeman, Shane Kloeck, Anka Zeeman, Armand Steyn and Mauritz Greef. Back: April Knight, Anne-Marie Steyn, Simoné van der Elst, Lynette Greef and Esmaralda Kloeck.

Armand Steyn has been appointed Managing Director, having previously served as General Manager of Morukuru Family Madikwe. Simoné van der Elst has been promoted to Finance Director and Rinse Wassenaar takes on the role of Sales and Marketing Director.

Anne-Marie Steyn has been appointed to Support Management Board and Special Tasks. Shane Kloeck has been named Group Sustainability Manager and General Manager of the Morukuru Goodwill Foundation.

At property level, Esmaralda Kloeck has been promoted to General Manager of Morukuru Family Madikwe and Melinda Hlomai has been appointed Operations Manager at AtholPlace Hotel & Villa.

Co-founders and co-owners said the appointments reflect the company’s focus on developing leadership internally.
