Phinda Homestead reopens in KZN

The sole-use private safari villa, &Beyond Phinda Homestead, in the Phinda Private Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, has reopened after a total rebuild.

Inspired by its natural surroundings and the local Zulu culture, the interiors are furnished in clean lines and earthy tones with highlights of burnt clay, aloe and red. Traditional Nguni hides, intricate basketwork and colourful crafts feature throughout the home. And one-of-a-kind Zulu reed tassel curtains are placed in the luxury en-suite bathrooms. Generous bathtubs look out over the bush outside.

A large verandah has a breakfast bar which converts into a cocktail area in the evening. A gym and massage area are also available for guests; along with a child-minder’s room for guests travelling with children.

The land was once made up of dilapidated cattle and pineapple farms, but has been transformed into a Big Five game reserve. Dedicated rangers and tracker teams are available for guests along with a private safari vehicle. Game drivers and meals are tailored completely to guests’ preferences.
