Poll results: We don’t depend on African arrivals

Last week Tourism Update asked: “How much of your business is dependent on African arrivals for its survival?”

The majority of voters said that less than 10% of their business relied on African arrivals, meaning that the reopening of regional travel may not be enough to support these businesses.

Interestingly, the second most voted for option was ‘more than 50%’ – a stark contradiction to the majority.

See the results below:

  • Less than 10%

62%

  • More than 50%

24%

  • Between 10% and 25%

  • Between 25% and 50%

Namibia recently abolished its seven-day quarantine policy which had been identified as a barrier to tourists. However, for other countries, the quarantine period aims to reassure tourists that all health and safety measures are in place.

Engage with our poll this week, on the right hand side of the news feed, and let us know your opinion on quarantine periods for tourists.

Do you believe that an imposed quarantine would negatively impact tourism numbers to the region?

  • Yes, travellers have a limited time to travel and won’t want to spend more of it in quarantine.
  • Perhaps, depending on the source market.
  • No, travellers will be encouraged by the health and safety regulations.
