Rex Royale Knysna Tours launched recently in the heart of the Western Cape’s Garden Route.
The tour operator offers a variety of tours to destinations in and around Knysna, including Tsitsikamma in the east, and Rheenendal and Buffalo Bay in the west. “Our vision is to offer something a little different in Knysna,” says General Manager, Richard Pule. "Rex Royale Knysna Tours is different from other tour operators because we cater to the individual rather than just another passenger or tourist on our buses. You travel in the company of genuine local experts who will provision a personalised tour experience. We aim to take the hassle out of planning your Garden Route adventure, and give travellers the peace of mind to book or design a tour that suits them, their time and budget."
Six full-day package tours are currently available. Full-day chartered tours include the Big Five Game Drive, Elephant Park Tour, Tsitsikamma Canopies, and Woodcutters Journey. Full-day exclusive tours are made up of Knysna Highlights and Hidden Gems, and Rheenendal/Honey Child packages. Designer tours are also available, where guests can create a customised itinerary, directly on the company’s website.
“We are currently working on another set of packages called Mini Tours, which give guests who are short on time and budget the opportunity to experience the Garden Route/South African culture on a smaller scale. This could include things like a traditional SA braai, township culture tours and/or scenic-view hikes,” says Pule.
The company has also taken tourism innovation and staff development a step further, through its Rex Research Hub, a blog-style sub-site where ideas and information on the current landscape of tourism can be explored and discussed. This was created as a mechanism for personal and professional development of Rex Royale’s employees, management staff and partners. “The aim of this was to help boost morale as well as add to their professional development, which is extremely important to us as a company. Not only has their own industry knowledge been expanded, but two of the young women have already started to implement some of their own ideas on how to move the business forward in terms of sustainability and new technology used in the tourism/hospitality space,” says Pule.

Rex Royale Knysna Tours is near the Pledge Nature Reserve.
