South African Airways (SAA) is upping its route network with several new domestic and regional services on the horizon.
Speaking at an event during the recent Africa’s Travel Indaba, SAA’s Interim Chief Commercial Officer, Tebogo Tsimane, confirmed the airline’s plans to expand routes as outlined below.
Domestic routes:
- Johannesburg-George (launching in April 2026)
- Johannesburg-East London (launch date to be confirmed)
- Cape Town-Durban (launch date to be confirmed)
Regional routes:
- Johannesburg-Gaborone (launching in October 2025)
- Seasonal flights between Cape Town and Mauritius (launching in November this year)
This regional expansion complements the long-haul growth strategy already reported by Travel News with SAA planning new intercontinental routes to Mumbai, India, and Guangzhou, China, via Southeast Asia in 2026.
