The Zululand Heritage Route (Route 66) in KwaZulu Natal is a new tourism route following the R66 between Ginginglovu and Phongola. The project is a joint initiative between uThunguluDistrictMunicipality, ZululandDistrictMunicipality, Tourism KZN and uMlalazi Tourism Association.
The lack of strong tourism product in the uThungulu District prompted officials to develop a project that would ensure the local tourism industry’s future growth. Route 66 has the potential to become a major tourism draw card due to the variety of product offering and scope for developing new tourism product along the route.
You can help this new tourism initiative by clicking here and completing the survey. The survey is intended to help plan the future growth of the route as well as understand stakeholder and tourist expectations.
